Why women's health is suffering - we don't value ourselves enough
This is Part 1 of a 10 post series of why I believe women’s health is suffering.
At a time when women have more opportunities than ever before, most of us are not thriving physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Number 1 - we don't value ourselves enough to prioritise our own health and wellbeing - it goes back to self love and compassion.
Priority list looks something like this. ...
#1 Take car for service
#2 book dentist appointment for kids
#3 do online shop
.....#105 see the doctor about bloating and painful periods.
Treat yourself how you would treat your children, or if you don't have children, how you would treat your pet. If they weren't feeling on top form, we would immediately take steps to address this. As women, we can put off investigating a particular symptom until later ... Later never comes until the that symptom has resurfaced as something more serious. Often we don't value our good health unit we are sick.
Women often feel overwhelmed by all their myriad responsibilities and roles. Taking care of their health seems like one more "job." I get it! •
Then there is soooo much information/misinformation about what is "healthy", we don't even know where to start. Enter more overwhelm leading to inaction and shunting it down the every expanding to-do-list.
One small step each day, even a tiny baby step each day, is a giant leap in the right direction. Listening to our bodies and seeking help to identify any issues is key.
It seems inconvenient to be healthy today BUT it will be more inconvenient to be unhealthy tomorrow.
